The majority of our items for sale are made by hand by us. These include any items listed as handmade such as resin dice and dice sets, cloth dice bags, chainmaille dice bags, terrain pieces, other chainmaille pieces and jewelry, and other RPG and TTRPG items.
We also have license to laser cut and 3D print and sell certain items, and license to resell some items. If an item was created by another maker and cut, engraved, 3D printed, or resold by us, the maker will be credited in the item listing.
Items ship 1-3 days after orders are complete and payment processes, with the exception of special orders, custom work, or commissions.
We use USPS for deliveries as a preference, but PS is available. Our default is to ship USPS Priority Mail 2- or 3-day. We are also able to ship USPS First Class or Retail Package (depending on size and weight); however, the same tracking and insurance is not provided as is with USPS Priority Mail.
Shipping is presently limited at times due to ever-changing restrictions as a result of COVID-19. If you live outside the United States and would like to purchase from our Shop and are unable to do so, please contact us at info@almostcritical.com so we may discuss any shipping restrictions and/or costs.
Our handmade resin dice sets are all made individually by us and by hand. We do not use a third-party or outsource any part of the dicemaking process other than, upon occasion, having our master dice printed by a third party printer (Shapeways, in Finest Detail Plastic). Because our dice are handmade, there will likely be handmade "marks" on our dice which are part of the process. These "marks" may include tool marks, flashing marks, a dulled edge, small imperfections, imperfect coloring, minimal small surface scratches, and possible interior bubbles in dice with inclusions. We make every effort to reduce these marks and in cases where these marks render the dice below our standard for sales, we use the dice for other crafts or sell them in bulk listings with other dice.
Our dice are, again, not machine made and we cannot guarantee perfect balance in our dice (although the majority of handmade dice are as balanced as mass-produced dice), most especially dice with heavy inclusions. If we see a balance issue due to a specific inclusion, it will be disclosed in the dice listing.
Each set of dice is made with a two-part epoxy resin. Dice may include any assortment of translucent or opaque resin colorant, mica powder, thermal or solar-chromatic powders, glow-in-the-dark powders, glitter, foils, dried flowers, dried teas, miscellaneous inclusions such as resin flowers or skulls, or just about any items we can find that we can get into a set of dice!
Our dice molds are also made by us by hand and generally made using Smooth-On Sorta-Clear 12 or Smooth-On Dragon Skin 20 silicone. Our molds are then filled with our mixed resin and any colorants and/or inclusions, and cured under 45 psi for at least 24 hours prior to demolding. After demolding, our dice cure for an additional minimum of five days before we begin the sanding, polishing, and inking process. Dice are finally cleaned and repolished before they are packaged and sent to our customers. Our dice are packaged in aluminum tins with foam inserts and our logo etched on the lid.
Please understand all of the above when purchasing our handmade dice. We will not accept returns based on any of the information listed above; specifically, we will not accept returns due to the handmade marks which are listed. Also, please keep in mind our dice are sharp-edged and the corners may be very sharp. These are not intended for small children. If you have serious concerns about your dice, please feel free to reach out to us at info@almostcritical.com.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions about our dicemaking process.
ALL COMMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN
We do take commissions for dice, chainmaille bags and pieces, terrain pieces, custom painted miniatures, dice bags, and other handmade items.
Commissions are currently full.
Please feel free to reach out to us if our commissions are open. We will update this page any time we have closed commissions for a time period or if there are any limitations on current commissions.
Pricing:
Dice Commissions: $150-250 per set depending on complexity, number of dice, and needed turnaround time. Our commission dice are cast in our molds using our fonts and designs, and it is cost-prohibitive at this time for us to cast commission dice with custom fonts or logos.
We are able to build sets with additional damage dice, d20s, etc., - up to 14 total dice with this price range. We will work directly with you to create the dice you imagine to the best of our ability. There is an approximate two-week turnaround, varying on number of current commissions in progress, and whether or not we need to recast any dice in the process. We are able to accept 5 commissions at any given time.
We may also commission sets for TTRPGs which do not use the 7-piece polyhedral system such as Warhammer D6 sets or Vampire the Masquerade D10 sets. Please contact us directly if you have questions about sets such as these, and we will see if we can help you!
Miniature 3D Printing: $10+ per print, depending on size. We have the ability to print in resin or PLA, but find resin gives a higher quality print. We are able to print from STL files provided by the customer. Miniatures will be primed in grey unless otherwise requested. (Price may be subject to change due to materials cost.)
Other Handmade Items: For terrain items, cloth or woven bags, wands, laser engraving, laser-cut items, other RPG/TTRPG items, or chainmaille, please reach out to us to see if we are able to help you. We'd love to talk to you about your project ideas!
Please understand we make all of our items by hand and they may have small imperfections because they are not mass-produced or machine-made. Please especially keep that in mind when purchasing handmade dice as discussed on this page. We will not accept returns based on handmade imperfections, unless those imperfections seriously impact the quality of the product. Dice are discussed in the column, "How Are Your Dice Made?" above. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about an item you have ordered when it is received at info@almostcritical.com. Almost Critical is not responsible for any misuse of our products. Almost Critical's dice are custom-designed and may not be used to make molds to make and sell dice using our designs.
